Hired Hands Helping Others

Posted on January 6th, by Mark Winter in Caregivers, Hired Hands News, Homecare, Marin, Napa. No Comments

Every day, hundreds of people throughout the Bay Area go hungry.  This Holiday Season, we reached out to those around us, accepting gracious donations toward local Food Banks.  After all, every little bit helps!

In Marin, our office connected with the SF/Marin Food Bank.  More information can be found at www.sfmfoodbank.org.  In Napa, our partner was the Napa Valley Food Bank.  In Sonoma, we joined with the Redwood Empire Food Bank (www.refb.org).  In the Pleasanton/Tri-Valley area, we worked with Open Heart Kitchen (www.OpenHeartKitchen.org).

A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to all of the amazing folks that were so generous in their contributions!   Our collective donations far exceeded our expectations, and we’re proud to reach out and help others in our communities!

Much Thanks and Happy New Year!
The Hired Hands Homecare Team

Hired Hands Homecare celebrates!

Posted on August 22nd, by Mark Winter in Homecare. No Comments

Friday, August 17 was a very proud day for the Hired Hands Homecare team.  Today, we had the honor of celebrating our First Anniversary of providing outstanding senior care in California to the communities of Pleasanton, Livermore and Danville.  The afternoon was shared with a large, distinguished group of local business owners and professionals.  We were honored to be joined by several clients, along with some of our amazing caregivers.  On top of that… the Mayor of Pleasanton dropped by for a special Ribbon Cutting to help celebrate!

Erin Winter, Hired Hands VP of Operations and current Homecare Director for the Pleasanton office, summed it up best when she stated:  “We are truly honored to be surrounded by so many amazing people.  In one short year we have had the opportunity to support many families, develop an amazing growing team of … Read More »

Advance Care Planning & The Conversation

April 16, 2014 was National Healthcare Decisions Day and I was fortunate enough to take part in an amazing event at the Kaiser Center in Oakland. In collaboration with several passionate volunteers and exhibitors from local hospices and healthcare industries, we broke down some of the stigmas and got to talking. Hundreds of people from all walks of life attended; many, sitting down to have The Conversation and complete their Advanced Healthcare Directive.

In our culture, it is taboo to discuss death; it is unsavory to discuss medical care; it is uncomfortable to talk with your friends and family about your wishes should you not be able to speak or act for yourself. But, it is a conversation that has the power to assure that all are put at ease should a serious illness or injury occur. Why aren’t we having … Read More »
